Future of Sage Pro & Migration Offer
An Important Announcement for Sage Pro, Sage 300 ERP Pro, SBT, or VisionPoint Users
The reason for changing accounting systems is unique to each business which is why we want to make you aware of some critical information you need to know now in order to better plan for the future.
As you may be aware, Sage Pro ERP software is written in Visual FoxPro®. On March 13, 2007, Microsoft® announced it would not be releasing Visual FoxPro® (VFP) beyond version 9.0 (released December 17, 2004). Microsoft has stated it will continue to support the VFP core until January 2010, with extended support through January 2015, by way of the developer tools life-cycle support plan. While this does not mean that software applications like Sage Pro ERP written in VFP will stop running in 2015, it does mean that every application written in VFP will need to be rewritten in a current development code to utilize future technologies (such as 64-bit operating systems). Sage has made us aware that although, Sage Pro ERP software will continue to work in a 64-bit operating system in 32-bit emulation mode, Sage Pro ERP software will not be able to run in a true 64-bit environment since Sage Pro ERP will not be rewritten in a new development language.
While there is no need to rush to change from the Sage Pro application to another ERP it is critical you are aware of this technology change. As you no doubt know, implementing a new ERP solution is no simple task, which is why we want to make sure you have plenty of advance notice to make intelligent decisions and so we may help with the decision process. If you are interested in more information on how to plan for moving to an ERP solution designed to support future technologies not available in Sage Pro ERP software, please contact us so we can provide you a Sage solution that is designed to support your future company vision.
